What you are dealing with

When your keypad stops lighting up or the app will not send a command, you are dealing with a smart lock issue, not a simple key problem. You may see a blank screen, a stuck latch, or a lock that still turns by hand but ignores the code. On a Bevier door, that difference matters. A worn battery tray, a loose thumbturn, or a bent mounting plate points to a different setup than a fresh lock that was never paired right.

What decides the approach

The approach depends on the door bore, the backset, and the shape of the trim around the faceplate. A bored cylindrical set needs different spacing than a rim lock on a narrow business door. A mortise body inside the door adds another layer, especially when the tailpiece and latch pieces do not line up cleanly. How the job goes

At the door, we first look at the outside keypad and the inside side of the lock. We check the latch position, the screw holes, and the battery contacts. Then we remove the old unit, set the new smart lock in place, and connect the parts that talk to each other. If the model uses an app, we pair it and test the code entry, the thumbturn, and the button response on the door in Bevier.

Looking after it

Afterward, keep the keypad face clean and dry, and replace weak batteries before the screen goes dim. Watch for a loose thumbturn, a slow beep, a code that takes several tries, or an app that loses the connection. Those early signs can point to battery wear, contact trouble, or a slipping inside part.
